Transforming Local Infrastructure (TLI) Summary
ViSTA is delighted to announce that we will be managing a voluntary sector partnership that will radically improve the support and information services that are available to Somerset based charities and community groups.
Over the next 18 months 7 partners will join up their existing voluntary sector support services to create a new and better service as follows:
- A central News & Information hub and telephone helpline.
This will create a single point for accessing or distributing all types of news and information relevant to the voluntary sector.
A Somerset-wide volunteering service and brand identity.
This will bring together the services of Next Step Volunteer Bureau, Mendip Community Support and Somerset Youth Volunteering Network to create a single, central, volunteer bureau and support service.
- A Local Giving Campaign and Fundraising Advice Service.
Led by partners in association with the Somerset Community Foundation we will make it easier for local businesses to connect with local causes and improve the support available to help charities and community groups raise funds and hold joint campaigns.
The Partners
ViSTA, Next Step Volunteer Bureau, Mendip Community Support, CHYPPs (Children and Young People’s Partnership Somerset), Somerset Race Equality Council, SYVN (Somerset Youth Volunteer Network), the Somerset Towns Forum with assistance from Somerset Community Foundation.
The Funder
The partnership project is called Somerset TLI (transforming local infrastructure). The government has awarded our project a grant through Transforming Local Infrastructure, which is being delivered by Big Fund, the non lottery funding arm of the Big Lottery Fund. Transforming Local Infrastructure is providing better support for frontline civil society organisations by transforming local infrastructure services.

Getting Involved - There are plenty of opportunities for other groups to join the project and ultimately to benefit from the project outcomes and we will have lots of public information events. Meanwhile to find out more please contact Laura on 0845 358 0372
A full project plan can be found here:
TLI Partners Start Work
Staff and trustees from the seven organisations who are partners in the Somerset Transformation Partnership met on Wednesday 4th April for an induction day.
The teams working on the three elements of the project have started planning their work and conducting research into options.
We will use this site to keep you up to date with our progress as the project develops.

Success
We are pleased to be able to announce that the Somerset bid to Big Lottery/Cabinet Office for Transforming Local Infrastructure has been successful.
They kept us waiting until 5pm on 31st January, but the wait was worth it!!
We will be contacting everybody involved shortly.
Draft Outcomes
The TLI Bid Writing Team met on Tuesday 4th October and began work on the application starting with the Outcomes for the Somerset Project. Please find below a first draft of the outcomes.
This is of course the first stab at it but it is important that you can see it at the earliest stage possible, comment and/or endorse the general direction of travel. I think these outcomes stay very close to many of the original proposals raised at the first Visioning Event and at the subsequent discussions - in particular the Steering Group meeting of 13th September. The suggested Partners are just that - suggestions only!
The bid wiritng team will be meeting again next week so it's important to have your thoughts as soon as possibel so work can proceed on other areas.
Please feel free to contact me by email or phone. I am on my mobile today but in the office for most of tomorrow (Friday). I hope to make contact with everyone in the next week anyaway to see which organisations would wish to put themselves forward as delivery partners.
